Melissa Cheese, Ed.D

Melissa Cheese is an Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Academic Enrichment at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania where she teaches courses in reading, writing, and mindfulness practice. She earned her Ed.D. in literacy studies from Hofstra University and is a certified meditation teacher. She has over twenty years’ experience as an administrator and educator in higher education. Her research interest focuses on using socially and culturally situated literacy practices, student success and retention strategies (such as book clubs, mindfulness in education, and empowerment workshops), as well as other high impact educational practices to support students’ learning and development.
